Every picture tells a story
What I try to achieve with every photograph is to tell a story. Why am I taking the photo. Where is the photo going to be used for. What is its purpose. Is it to make someones life better, to make something more efficient, or just make someone feel good. Everything was designed in a specific way, and how do I best represent that through the lens of my camera. Should it look big,or small, and how do I make someone have enough interest to want it. Finding its best angle and most flattering light to bring it to life is what I try to accomplish. Is it that early morning sparkle or late evening glow of light, a soft short shadow or long distinct shadow that will give it the dimension needed to make it a hero! My goal is to give it a natural feel from the sun or by some other light source.
Many years of experience in studios and on location has given me the knowledge to tackle any photography project. Big room scenes, simple table top, outlines, people, locations, and a favorite of mine FOOD photography.
Shooting food is like a sporting event. As soon as the food is meticulously placed on set, it’s a race to make it good enough that you think you could smell, taste and have to try it. A smear of a colorful sauce, randomly placed peppercorns and crumbs, or the glistening of the juices puddling on the plate, make it a work of art! It’s like a fireworks show when the team shouts out a ooohhh!!! when the stylist finds the perfect spot for the sprig of parsley Or when the fire expert shoots out a flame, smoke or spark around a grilling steak at the same time the shutter clicks.
I love what I do and hope to be able to share it with you.
Thanks,
MikeT.
